My Friends' Artwork!

Permissions have been personally granted by all artists for their work to be featured in this assignment.

I have known all of these people for over five years now, and consider them all to be some of my best friends in the world. I met all of them back in August of 2020, in the Discord server I mentioned on the first website. They are all the people who inspired me not to give up on my artistic journey. I'm so incredibly lucky to call them my friends! :)

Adrian

he/him

Adri's art uses pastel or highly-saturated color palettes, and derives strong anime influences to create a cutesy, soft vibe to his art. He draws VOCALOID or other vocal synthesizer characters most often, namely Adachi Rei (who is featured in many of these works). In the VOCALOID fanbase, he is slowly becoming a well- recognized individual and his art is being featured in music videos by up-and-coming musicians in the community. I feel incredibly privileged I've been able to watch his art evolve over the past five years we've been friends!

Ariadna (Ria)

she/her

Ria has very soft and flowy shapes to her art. She prefers to dabble in character design and drawing fan art for her favorite medias. Her art inspired me to create an entire story of my own, because I couldn't help but envision one of the protagonists in her art style. My personal favorite thing about her art style is the way she draws hair. It always looks so fluffy and soft, like you just want to feel it through the screen! While she isn't pursuing art as a career, she still considers it a near and dear passion of hers in-between her academic work.

Bird

they/them, he/him

Bird is a hobbyist rather than someone who is a dedicated and practiced artist. Regardless, they are one of my best friends, and their drawings are especially silly. They enjoy drawing their favorite characters from their two favorite video games, DELTARUNE and Danganronpa. A majority of this art is of his original character named Cammy, who is a fan-made daughter of two characters from DELTARUNE. In DELTARUNE, objects come to life through a phenomenon known as "Dark Fountains," which create Dark Worlds. These now- living objects are known as Darkners. Cammy is a Darkner who, in the real world, would be a billboard. However, she has a habit of glitching out and playing random, obscene advertisements while she's talking.

Chipiko

any pronouns

Chipiko's art is reminiscient of a plush doll, in my opinion. Her art style would be considered "chibi," which refers to exaggeratedly-small characters. Compared to Adrian, she draws without a drawing tablet and instead uses a touchscreen tablet and a free art application to create her drawings. Her income mainly comes from having other people commission her for art of their own characters, but she also draws her own characters from time to time. One of her characters is featured here, as drawn by Adrian: the blue and pink alien creature in the only .gif on this page!

Luna

any pronouns

Luna also takes a lot of inspiration from anime, like Adrian. Where they differ is the eras of manga and anime that they've both used to adapt their styles. Luna's style is influenced by older works, like Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, and Urusei Yatsura. They're currently in art school and plan to become a manga author in the future. They're super creative, constantly making different characters and creating unique stories inspired by their big interests. They tend to focus a lot of their works around humorous, magical plotlines or rom-coms. My personal favorite work from them is a rom-com involving their characters Kasumi and Shigeo.

Rigel (Riri)

she/her

Rigel is currently in art school, working to become a professional artist, much like Luna. She specializes in character illustration and comics. Similarly to Ria, her aspiration lies within visual storytelling, with a focus more on the subject. In her words, "I want my subjects to feel like realized, actual people in a sense, even if you’re just getting a brief snapshot of who they are." She likes to express every aspect of her characters and their stories. Alongside her illustration work, Riri also writes stories involving her original characters, as well as applying them to role-playing activities on the internet.
